Wayne’s World star Dana Carvey’s son Dex Carvey tragically died at the age of 32 from an accidental drug overdose on Wednesday, November 15.

Dex was found unconscious and locked in his bathroom at his Los Angeles home, police said TMZwith paramedics declaring him dead at the scene after attempts to revive him failed.

It was Dex’s girlfriend who raised the alarm around 10 p.m. and called the emergency services.

SNL alumnus Dana and his wife Paula released a heartbreaking statement on Instagram on Thursday, saying, “Last night we experienced a terrible tragedy. Our beloved son, Dex, died of an accidental drug overdose. He was 32 years old.

‘Dex has put a lot into those 32 years. He was extremely talented in so many things – music, art, filmmaking, comedy – and followed them all passionately.”

The couple continued, “Most of all, he loved his family, his friends and his girlfriend Kaylee. Dex was a beautiful person. His handmade birthday cards are a treasure. We will miss him forever.’

Dex had a career background in entertainment and carved out his niche in comedy, following in the footsteps of father Dana.

Dana has multiple accolades to his name — most notably five consecutive Primetime Emmy awards for SNL — but his late son would certainly inherit his talents.

Dex opened up for his father in 2016, during the filming of his hit Netflix special Straight White Male.

He has also appeared in a number of projects, including the 2016 short film Carpool Pandering; Joe Dirt 2: Beautiful Loser from 2016.

He also appeared in the 2014 miniseries Beyond the Comics; and the 2013 miniseries The Funster, according to iMDb.

He has also worked on stage with his brother Thomas, who is also active in comedy.

A number of Dan’s colleagues and fans took to the comment thread on his Instagram account to send their condolences to the family amid this tragic time.

Comedian Mike Falzone said: ‘No way. I’m so sorry,” while comedian Brian Monarch said, “I’m sorry Dana. My condolences to you and your family.’

Comedian Tim Dillon said, “I’m so sorry for your loss, Dana. He was a great kid.’
