Everton’s hopes of Tottenham foregoing a £10million fee for Dele Alli have been dashed after they blamed them for overspending, which led to the Toffees scoring ten points.
Mail Sport has learned that Tottenham are unhappy with Everton’s claim that Daniel Levy’s refusal to pay £80m for Brazilian striker Richarlison caused them to breach Premier League spending rules, which club sources have described as absurd .
The 41-page written judgment published by the Premier League’s independent committee last Friday included a claim by Everton that Tottenham had exploited their problems in complying with profit and sustainability rules by ‘tough negotiating’ in the transfer market.
Everton also said that the £60m transfer fee Tottenham agreed to pay for the Brazilian forward in June 2022 – which was £20m lower than their valuation – was ‘directly attributable to PSR calculation issues.’
Everton’s attempt to use the Richarlison fee to compensate for their overspending was rejected by the independent commission and has now potentially damaged their relationship with Tottenham.

The two clubs held talks last month to restructure a deal that currently sees Everton pay Tottenham £10m if Dele plays a further seven times, a fee they are currently struggling to afford due to their financial problems but which they have not yet agreed to. have reached agreement.
Tottenham are keen to prevent Dele from reviving his career at Goodsion Park but have made it clear that any renegotiated settlement must be mutually beneficial, with a new deal now seen as less likely.
The 27-year-old also needs to improve his fitness before manager Sean Dyche considers him for selection, having not played since picking up an injury during a loan spell at Besiktas last February.
Everton’s claims that Tottenham have been shortchanged have been given short shrift in north London, with club sources suggesting Richarlison will become their record signing if several add-ons are activated in the contract to take the fee to £60m .

As it stands, the guaranteed transfer fee of £52.5m makes Richarlison Tottenham’s second most expensive signing after Tanguy Ndombole, who joined from Lyon for £54m.
Tottenham’s bid for Richarlison was also significantly higher than other expressions of interest from Chelsea and Arsenal, and gave Everton a significant profit on the £40 million they paid Watford for him four years earlier.
Tottenham are convinced Everton’s problems are due to their own financial mismanagement. Club sources also pointed out that Everton had other playing assets they could have sold in the summer of 2022 to cushion their losses, such as Anthony Gordon, but opted not to do so.
Gordon ultimately stayed at Goodison Park for another six months before joining Newcastle for £45m, a transfer that took place too late to count towards Everton’s PSR calculations for the 2021/22 season.
