Mandalorian producer Dave Filoni is named the Chief Creative Officer of Lucasfilm: ‘I need to be a help across the galaxy’

Dave Filoni has officially been named Chief Creative Officer of George Lucas’ production company: Lucasfilm.

The 49-year-old Star Wars veteran – who has notably helped helm hit projects like Ahsoka and The Mandalorian – revealed the big news during a chat with Vanity fair in an article published Tuesday.

“Now I’m what’s called the chief creative officer of Lucasfilm,” the writer and producer told the outlet, adding that he will now have the opportunity to be involved in projects from the beginning of the development process.

‘I used to be involved in many projects, I only saw it after it had already developed well.’

After being named CCO, Filoni will also work with Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy and head of development Carrie Beck on future productions.

The producer – who is an avid Star Wars fan – said: “In this new role, he’s open to pretty much everything that happens.”

Dave added: ‘As we plan the future of what we’re doing now, I’m involved in the inception phase.’

Filoni has been heavily involved when it comes to the Star Wars universe and was one of the executive producers of The Mandalorian – starring This Is Us actor Pedro Pascal.

Most recently, he created the Disney+ series Ahsoka, which first premiered earlier this year in August and cast Rosario Dawson as the titular role of Ahsoka Tano, as well as Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker.

Further discussing his new role at Lucasfilm, Filoni said, “I don’t tell people what to do.”

He added, “But I feel like I’m trying to help them tell the best story they want to tell. I’m here to help out across the galaxy, almost as part of a Jedi Council.”
