The Christmas gift we’ve all been waiting for! LadBaby reveal they are NOT doing a festive single after making history with five consecutive number ones

LadBaby have revealed they will not be making a festive single until 2023, after reaching the Christmas number one for five consecutive years.

Last year, husband and wife team Roxanne, 39, and Mark Hoyle, 36, surpassed a record set by The Beatles in the 1960s when they topped the charts with their single Food Aid, an adaptation of the Band Aid song Do They Know It’s Christmas. ?

But now the couple have revealed they have decided to ‘pass the baton’.

Mark told me Subway: ‘We never expected there would be five, I’ll be very honest. It’s one of those things that has happened over the years and we loved that the crowd got behind us the way they did.

‘When we started this five years ago we knew how important food banks are in this country and we wanted to raise money and awareness for them, so we did that. [song]that was wonderful.’

‘The legacy for us is that we want charity songs to dominate every Christmas, we want all the top 20 charity songs to be for good causes, for fun, because that’s what Christmas is, it’s a time for family and a time for giving.’

Roxanne said the original plan was to do just one single, but due to their success they went on to do four more.

According to Aceodds.com, The Pogues are favorites to reach Christmas number one this year, with a 44% chance.

Tied for second place are Ed Sheeran and The Beatles, with an 11.1% chance.

The Beatles recently released their latest single Now and Then, which gives them a chance to become the first Christmas number 1 since 1967.

LadBaby tied the Beatles’ total of four Christmas songs, which the Beatles earned non-consecutively in 1963, 1964, 1965 and 1967.

Profits from their single last year were split between the Trussell Trust charity and the food bank’s Band Aid Trust.

In total, the band has raised over £1,305,000 for charity.

Mark is a graphic designer and blogger from Nottingham who, together with his wife Roxanne, rose to fame with their YouTube videos.

The clips posted under the name LadBaby followed his life as he prepared to welcome his first child with Roxanne, known as LadBabyMum.

The couple married in Las Vegas in 2015 and welcomed their first sons Phoenix, seven, and Kobe, five.
