Two-weight world champion Natasha Jonas will reportedly defend her IBF welterweight title against Mikaela Mayer early next year.

The Liverpudlian defeated Kandi Wyatt in an eighth-round stoppage to capture the vacant IBF welterweight title in July, cementing herself as one of the most decorated British female fighters of her generation.

Having already unified the WBC, WBO and IBF super welterweight belts, she became a two-weight world champion after dropping down a class to fight the Canadian.

Now Jonas will face former junior lightweight unified champion Mayer on January 20 in Great Britain, according to ESPN.

Mayer, who has 19 wins and one loss, including five KOs, moved up to junior welterweight in September to defeat Silvia Bortot via 10-round decision.

She will do the same to take on Jonas, moving up another weight class.

After her fight against Bortot, Mayer called out Jonas and said, “I”I’m ready for that fight. It’s a big jump from 130 pounds to 147 pounds, but I’m willing to move up to 147 pounds and take on Tasha Jonas right away.

“We’re both looking for big fights. We both strengthened our names. Ideally, I’d like it next.’

The Californian is currently fourth in ESPN’s welterweight rankings and sixth in the pound-for-pound rankings, while Jonas is second and ninth respectively.

Both women have also competed in the Olympics, with Jonas reaching the quarter-finals in 2012 before losing to eventual gold medalist Katie Taylor.

Mayer went to Rio four years later but also failed to get past the last eight as she lost by majority decision to Russia’s Anastasia Belyakova.
